Parents and Adolescents Talking about Healthy Sexuality (PATHS)
PATHS is a toolkit we developed to help parents communicate more effectively with their children about sexuality and HIV. It can all be accessed online and takes less than 45 minutes to review. It includes videos from families and adolescent health experts, as well as written materials and interactive activities. Research shows that when parents communicate more with their children about these topics, adolescents wait longer to start having sex and take fewer sexual risks.
To access PATHS
Before we make any resource available to families, we do research to make sure it is helpful. We are currently doing that research with PATHS. Once we know the toolkit works, we plan to share it with anyone who wants to use it. If you would like to be contacted once PATHS becomes available, please answer a few short questions about your family on the next page. Click “next” below to answer those questions.
About PATHS
PATHS is our newest resource, and our previous research showed that it helped parents communicate more with their adolescents about sex, condoms, and HIV.
But all of the resources we offer parents get tested in multiple research studies to ensure they are helpful to families. So we’re still studying PATHS to understand more about how it works.
If you’d like to access PATHS, we can make it available to parents who participate in one of our research studies. Fill out the form above if you and your family are interested in learning more about this opportunity in the future.
